Why some destinations ask for relationship status
Accommodation practices can differ between countries and regions. In certain destinations, couples may be asked to confirm their relationship status before sharing a room or property. This can be linked to local procedures and, in some places, cultural and religious regulations that influence how accommodation providers manage check-in and guest registration.
What ResMi Pass confirms
ResMi Pass provides a clear statement of the relationship status you declare and ties it to your trip by listing the destination or destinations. The format is kept simple so it is easy to understand who the document refers to and what it is confirming.
Information included in the document
ResMi Pass includes both individuals’ first and last names, dates of birth, email addresses and phone numbers, plus an identification reference such as a passport number or national ID number. It also states the destination(s) and relationship status (for example, married, cohabiting, or engaged). Where relevant, the relationship start date can be included.
Signatures and witness confirmation
The document is signed by both individuals in the relationship. Two witnesses aged 18 or over also sign to confirm that they have verified the couple’s signatures. This provides a record that the signing has been checked by independent witnesses.
Where ResMi Pass may be presented
ResMi Pass may be presented on request to hotels, resorts, aparthotels, short-term rentals such as Airbnb, and other accommodation types where relationship status may be requested as part of standard procedures.
Traveller responsibility
Travellers are responsible for checking the rules and documentation requirements for their destination and trip, including entry requirements, stay conditions, and accommodation rules. ResMi Pass is used as supporting documentation when relationship information is requested.
